Slow Progress?Dev Blog

Posted by Mitomon Thu, August 10, 2017 10:32PM

Moi my friends,

Our progress has been pretty slow again because of some issues. My laptop broke again, so I haven't been able to post as much as usual. But enough with the reasons for our slowdown. Now, I'll write a little about what this means for AFF. We've hit some walls with the code, and are working on redoing some art glitches as well. This slowdown means we can't accurately select a release date yet, but we will keep you guys updated. I'm working on adding an on-site forum, if anyone would be interested in that. It will be for questions, discussion on your favorite enemies(meese?), and any other thing.

Heeeello!

Wes and I are working on the second stage for A Finnish Fable and have added plenty of new stuff to the game. These haven't been released yet, as they're still in testing, but you can appreciate some of them in our screenshots below.
Blog imageBlog imageAs we test, the art will improve, and we'll update you guys when it does. I've been working on a new song for this new stage as well, but I'll post about that when I'm finished. Our posts will resume in their weekly fashion, but we still recommend signing up to the mailing list here. We're pretty excited to finally have some more stuff to show you guys and hope you are equally as excited!

Net NeutralityMito's Corner

Posted by Mitomon Thu, June 15, 2017 04:47PM

Hello! I thought I'd put this in my category to keep the dev blog only for AFF news.

On July 12, 2017, websites, Internet users, and online communities will come together to sound the alarm about the FCC’s attack on net neutrality. Learn how you can join the protest and spread the word at https://www.battleforthenet.com/july12/.

Right now, new FCC Chairman and former Verizon lawyer Ajit Pai has a plan to destroy net neutrality and give big cable companies immense control over what we see and do online. If they get their way, the FCC will give companies like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T control over what we can see and do on the Internet, with the power to slow down or block websites and charge apps and sites extra fees to reach an audience.

If we lose net neutrality, we could soon face an Internet where some of your favorite websites are forced into a slow lane online, while deep-pocketed companies who can afford expensive new “prioritization” fees have special fast lane access to Internet users – tilting the playing field in their favor.

But on July 12th, the Internet will come together to stop them. Websites, Internet users, and online communities will stand tall, and sound the alarm about the FCC’s attack on net neutrality.

The Battle for the Net campaign will provide tools for everyone to make it super easy for your friends, family, followers to take action. From the SOPA blackout to the Internet Slowdown, we've shown time and time again that when the Internet comes together, we can stop censorship and corruption. Now, we have to do it again!

We're Not DeadDev Blog

Haha, looks like Wes is taking too long on those shaders…

In all seriousness though, we apologize for not informing you like we used to. We had some issues to take care of in the real world before continuing this wonderful project and unfortunately neglected to keep you, our loyal fans, informed. However, we’re back on track and will be until our release later this year. We will never again leave you guys in the dark, and to demonstrate our commitment, we’ve updated the site to include a mailing list! Here’s a link to the official AFF mailing list. This is important, not only for you guys, but for us as well. You keep us going and it’s really nice to hear from fans. We’ll email you guys every time we post on the blog and also to share super-secret screenshots. I've also just put up an 8bit version of Ievan Polka on Soundcloud. Check it out here.

Well, that’s it for this apology post.

Thanks for your support and understanding,

Distribution and ShadersDev Blog

Posted by Wes Mon, February 20, 2017 07:43AM

Happy Monday everybody,

Our demo has been live for the first week. We are proud of the outcome and proud of how polished the game feels to us. We are still shooting for a summer release date but now we have started thinking of distribution. Now with stream greenlight going away for steam direct, we started wondering if our game should be hosted on steam. We thought long and hard for our target audience and we believe that steam might not be the best place for our target audience. One of our biggest ideas is hosting the game our selves like how Minecraft did back in the day. Of course everything is still in discussion but we wanted to hear from our fans if they have any ideas. How would you like to grab our final copy of the game. We are expecting big things from the final release and we are hoping that you will enjoy our game as much as we enjoyed making it.

As a side note, this week I have been looking into shaders. They are an interesting concept that could enhance our game in an outstanding way (if i can figure out how to get them to work :P). Shaders determine how to render each pixel in our game and we can make some outstanding effects using them. They are commonly used for lighting and shading effects, but I am planning to try use them to enhance the graphics a little in A Finnish Fable. This will be an interesting and fun concept to play with.

Hey everybody, Our new Demo is finally live and you can grab it from itch.io. This will be our final demo release as for now. Mitomon and I will be focusing on the full game and we are shooting for a summer release date. Its been incredibly fun and rewarding working on A Finnish Fable and I really hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed working on it.

Also, we just got our first article written about us. It was from homeofnerds and they really did a good job talking about our game. This is really exciting. Here is the article.

As always, if you guys have any questions or concerns about the game, or if you guys found any bugs, or even if you wonder how some features were implemented in the game, feel free to reach out.

New demo soonDev Blog

Posted by Wes Mon, January 30, 2017 10:39AM

It's been a long time since our last post and we are sorry about that. We have been busy with the new year and a lot of things were changing due us. For example, I just graduated from university and started a new job. Nevertheless, we continue to work on A Finnish Fable and we have been making some great progress. We brought in a new mini boss and a whole new level. We are adding some final touches but a new demo should be out sometime in the coming week or two. We hope you guys had a great start to 2017.
